Lake Grove

The village of Lake Grove, NY is located in Suffolk County, Long Island in the town of Brookhaven. In addition to being a centrally-located crossroads, Lake Grove is known as Suffolk County's top shopping destination. Popular retail options include the department stores at Smith Haven Mall, organic and specialty food shopping at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods and chain favorites like DSW. Even more choices can be found nearby in Nesconset, Stony Brook and South Setauket.

During the early 20th century, Lake Ronkonkoma became a popular resort and recreation area with many small summer homes built along the picturesque private roads of Lake Grove. Today, year-round housing options are many in well-established residential developments, the earliest of which was Brook Lawn on Stony Brook Road (this development later became what is now the nearby hamlet of Stony Brook). Developments in Lake Grove include Crestwood Forest, Lake Grove Estates, Country Pointe, The Pines, Brittany Hills and Country Woods. Home styles vary from modern houses and mid-century cottages and bungalows to older vintage homes and classic Capes and colonials.

A good balance of pristine nature and amenities like shopping and dining, access to highways and public transportation makes Lake Grove a popular hometown. The village is served by three school districts, Sachem, Middle Country and Three Village.
